I have light olive skin that tans really easily, but I don’t want to go to a tanning bed and it hasn’t been sunny enough lately for me to lay out.
I’ll be going on a trip to Alabama in a few weeks and I’d like to be pretty dark, but not extremely fake looking.
What’s the best gradual self-tanner you’ve ever used that I could find easily without going through an online store?

Self-tanners mostly just turn you orange and orange tans don’t look that great. I know you don’t want to use a tanning bed but it works best with a bronzer and looks least fake.

L’Oreal sublime is the best self tanner I’ve ever used. I’m fair skin though so it may be a little different but it always looks great and never orange or fake. Just make sure you wash your hands and scrubs UNDER your nails afterwards!!
They make a gel and a cream that is also instant so you can see where you are putting it. The gel dries faster but they’re both great.

I really like Oil of Olay’s Quench gradual tan lotion. It doesn’t smell as bad as some of the others and it keeps my legs really moisturized. Also, it doesn’t streak or look orange. Its so true that you have to really really really scrub your hands and your nails after you apply it, and take special care around your knees, elbows, and ankles. They tend to take the tanner differently, so do a really light coating on them.

WOW! I used to have to put self tanners on 2 days in a row to get a dark color. 1 application of this and I was shocked to see that I had a DARK tan. A GOOD dark tan that looked real on my Irish skin. And it lasted about a week before fading away. I did not even get the crackle / lizard breakup I typically get from tanning lotions. I try every new self tanner on my quest for a truly brown tan — this is a Great product.

Finally a self-tanning lotion that allows you to have this really nice tan without looking like you applied one of those self-tanning lotions. Other lotions I have tried so far indeed resulted in somewhat of a tan but never quite the dark and natural tanned look that you come home with from your week on the beach in the Caribbean. I love this one, I applied it about a week ago and today I still look like I just got off the plane from Aruba.

This stuff really works. It gives you more of a brown, than orange color. I have naturally light skin, but tan super fast. One application gave me good color. I did find that it smells like the cheap stuff as it is developing. One other issue. The stuff has brown dye in it that helps you get it everywhere. It is a little un nerving at first, but you don’t miss spots. It is very dark color, streaky not subtle or natural looking. I put the stuff on in the early afternoon and realized I had to leave the house later…opps. You aren’t supposed to shower for 6 hours, so I had to go out looking like a freak. Good news is when you shower the dye rinses away and leaves a great looking tan. Not sure how long it will last though hopefully long like it claims because of the cost. It took about 1/4 of the bottle and I’m only 5 ft avg weight. I did paint realistic tan lines as well. Give it a try…best sunless tanner I’ve used…most expensive as well.

I have pale skin that doesn’t tan so I’ve tried many products over the years. I decided to try this and I’m really happy with it. You need to make sure you put gloves on and it takes (I think) a lot longer to dry — but I got the brownest and most natural tan I’ve ever had and it’s lasted almost a week now, fading evenly without that yellowy/nasty look I’d gotten with some others. Really glad I discovered this.

This lotion absorbs completely with no greasy or oily feel. Also, while most lotions smell like chemical, Moroccan smells like light vanilla and fruit, pleasant and light without being too feminine. I noticed the color really helps define my muscles and gives me great tone.
I have this and I def recom’d it! I love it, the only thing is to use gloves or wash your hands right away, still it leaves a dark tint on your palms.
But it smells like almond oil, yum! And dries really fast!

I love this stuff! I ordered the 32oz bottle! The more 32 oz bottles you order the cheaper so I got a bottle, my boyfriend got a bottle, and a friend so it was $50 a bottle instead of $80!
I use this product and it does smell like a tanner. It does leave extremely natural color on me (medium red-head) and I love it!

It should be said, IF YOU HAVE FRECKLES on your face/arms/body, self-tanner only intensifies the freckles & makes them darker…. I learnt this one the hard way on my face
I found this self tanner to be really difficult to rub into my skin. it was almost like i couldnt get it even, even after rubbing it in forever. i found that it turned my ultra pail skin more on the orange side. i wasnt a fan. ST Tropez mousse is my favorite self tanner ive tried so far
