Question by Bethany W: Help I am fed up with Tinea Versicolor!!!!!!?
I have been suffering from Tinea Versicolor for about 7 years or more now. It is embarrassing and uncomfortable. I have been to multiple docs, and they all told me to wash myself with head and shoulders. Well, I have extremely sensitive skin and that is just not an option for me. Besides if you miss 1 day of treatment it seems to come back 3 fold. I was using tea tree oil, but I read that it can be toxic in a pure form like that. I am completely fed up, and even if I wanted to I can’t see a Dr because I am without health insurance right now. Is there anyone out there who has or has had TV that can help me? I am sick of being so self conscious and having people say ‘eew you have spots did you use a tanning bed?’ NO PEOPLE it is not the contagious form of ringworm you are thinking of! HELLPPPPPP

I feel for ya! I’ve had TV for 6 years. For the first 5 years, it stayed mostly on my legs and I concealed it by wearing pants. Sucked in the summer! Then last summer, just before my wedding, it broke out all over my arms and chest!!! GGGRRR!! And some people can be so stupid!! Like you said, its not ringworm, it’s not contagious! Any way… I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide. After using it 2-3 times a day, it went almost completely away. I still get a few spots every summer, but nothing like it was. Perhaps you can find it on-line somewhere otherwise, see a dermatologist that will listen and will give you something that will work! Good luck.
