Also, a tattoo artist once told me that because a tattoo is a piece of artwork, they use your skin color in deciding the shades and everything to make it look the best. If you plan on using the same self tanner in 20 years, then continue with the lotion, or if you don't, try to lay off the lotion and return to your natural skin color until everything is healed.
