it will be blotchy if you use a spray because of the hair blocking the particles from reaching the body evenly. they all work a like the secret is to exfoliate before using them, and use them sparingly around knees,elbows and wrist and ankles. i found that applying regular lotion to these areas just before using the self tanner helps prevent these areas from streaking.
