Why do I not get even coverage with the Dove self tanner?

Question by timandrea27103: Why do I not get with the self tanner?
I am trying to stay healthier by not getting in the sun as much this summer. But my legs are too white! I started using the Dove self tanner lotion, but I get darker spots around my ankles, knees, and elbows. Any suggestions how to make the color even?

I use self-tanners too. The trick to even coverage is first,
exfoliation. The better you scrub your skin before applying it, the longer it will last, and the smoother it will go on. Then, after you’ve put the tanner on as evenly as possible, take a damp wash cloth and very, very lightly, wipe some of it off your elbows, ankles, and knees. These areas of the body tend to get darker than the rest, and wiping it off just a tiny bit makes all the difference.

Make sure you exfoliate properly….I use those exfoliating gloves in the shower….plus I tend to avoid the knees, ankles, elbows after the first 2-3 applications.

I use Jergens. I mix it with regular lotion in a small cup before putting it on. Easy on the knees and ankles.

This lotion offers a nice glow for fair skin. It’s more subtle than regular self-tanners, with a natural sun-kissed look plus a bit of shine.

I was grateful to find a supplier of one of my fav products that can no longer be found in stores.

    Thank you!

I really thought that all of these drugstore moisturizers with self tanners were equivalent so I picked up the Dove product because I like the ads they run with normal looking women.

This product’s consistency is too thin, which makes it too messy to apply to the legs. I’m going back to Jergens, or the Target version of Jergens.

However, I do like the packaging of the Dove product better than that of the Jergens product. The Dove container easily stands on its “head” without tipping over.

The product works great. The way it was shipped wasn’t good. They had “taped” the top of the bottle, and lotion was coming out all over the package when it arrived. It should have been shipped in a box, not an envelope!

The Dove tanning cream arrived on schedule and in perfect condition. It appears that this product is no longer being produced by Dove for some reason, as I cannot find it in any of the stores in Atlanta, anywhere!

It is a great product for natural looking, tanned skin and doesn’t involve harmful rays. The fragrance is pleasant and not too strong.

Will keep trying to find it on Amazon when I run out again.
